about

"Remember Wnen We"
by
E+RO=3

“Remember When We” musically tells my early story from my conception (1), I was born at St.Francis (2) hospital, Shirley Ave (3) was our street, walked past the candy house (4) daily back & forth to school. Russell’s (5) was the lunch spot across from Hosler (Jr High), Gordon Gartrell (6) was the shirt Deneice tried to make Theo (haha). One-time (7) is what we called police, we rode on bike handlebars (8) in Knight City (the wood) (9). I used to get my haircuts at Harvey Norris (10). KDAY (11) was the only radio station at the time that played hip hop. I remember when we (12) used to go to the plunge (13) in the summers. BumpyFace (14) is what the grown folks called Seagrams Gin (because of the bottle and was pops drink of choice). We loved to go to the Compton swap meet (15) for the latest in ghetto wear (haha). If we didn’t have coolaid, then we made suga wata (16). We would get random snacks and spices at the country butcher (17), where I used to meet up with my first crush (18). We had to be in by the time the streetlights (19) came on. My dad actually had one of only a few produced ‘442’ series Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with the 442 (20) on the side. We played hide go get it (21) with the neighborhood girls! And finally, Whooper (22) (who’s name was Ralph Hawkins Jr) was the first kid I witnessed tragically loose his life playing with guns. He was about 3 years older than me. I was 9 at the time.
Within 2 years of that event, we moved from Lynwood to Los Angeles.
Thx for peepin it out!
